Problem Note 59366: PROC UPLOAD and PROC DOWNLOAD fail with an error message that contains garbage characters
Using the UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD procedures to transfer data between an EBCDIC host and non-EBCDIC host fails. When you encounter this problem, the error message that you receive contains garbage characters. For example, you might see an error message similar to the following:
ERROR: No logical assign for filename ÂÉÕÆÉÓÅ@.
This problem happens when you use filerefs in the syntax of your UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD procedure.
A workaround is to use the physical file path instead of a fileref in the PROC UPLOAD or PROC DOWNLOAD
syntax.
